Web 2.0 Tools - Animoto

I found Animoto to be very awesome.  I took some pictures, added some music, and the program did picture transitions for me.  I also used some videos and it didn't take away from the music. I've already spent so much time on it already.  I actually bought the year subscription.  I know I could use this feature to introduce myself at the beginning of the year or showcase some of the events at school and show it to the kids.  You can also use music from your own music library.

I just made this video to see how I could introduce myself and my interests at the beginning of the year.

I tried to embed with the code given, but I hope the link works.
This was very fun to make.  I can see my kids having fun with this.  Or I can even create math problems, maybe one where two people are having conversations and one is correct and they must prove who is correct.  This site is very user friendly.  I'll definitely use this to create fun cartoons that are relative to my kids.

Wikis

This would be an interesting way to collaborate with other teachers to see what is working and what is not.  Maybe there are some resources that really helps the kids understand or a strategies that are effective.  This would be another way to coordinate school events or a calendar of events.

My wiki is about linear equations.  It listed important vocab and asked for more input about misconceptions and examples.

RSS Feeder

I went to google reader and started off confused.  After exploring the page, I saw how easy it was to find topics on math by using the search for subscription options.  I looked up pythagorean theorem and proportions and found several pages on the topics.
This was good to know because I had no idea about this feature.

Google Docs

This is the link to my google docs.  I uploaded a test that another teacher and I were working on.  We were looking to add more problems and delete some problems but were always having to wait for the other to email it back or show a printed copy. So I can see how this can make this test making process more efficient.

Delicious Account

Creating an account was an easy process.  I just posted a few links from common math websites.  I know I can't possibly think of all of the useful sites but I'm sure as time goes by I'll find some useful ones.  This would be useful to post on my school website so parents can have more examples at home or if I would like to give extra credit.

Blogging Trial

This will be the first time to use the blog.  This seemed like a scary task because I'm unfamiliar with all of its capapbilities.  Overall, this seems like posting anything to any other social networking sites.  The only difference is that it's broken up into subjects.  Setting up the blog didn't seem that difficult.  But I know it's going to take a lot more practice to make good use of it.  I'm sure there is more that can be done, but we'll see how that goes later.
